Exclusive: Celtic and Rangers want to sign Owen Beck on loan if Andy Robertson returns

Owen Beck been recalled from his loan spell in Scotland.

It was believed that Andy Robertson would return to action in January but that seems less certain now after Liverpool activated a clause to recall Beck.

The Scottish international dislocated his shoulder playing for his national side against Spain.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the left-back is still some time away from returning to team training.

“Robbo still needs more range in his shoulder. Obviously it was a big surgery. [He is] still not even close to team training or whatever. Can do a lot, everything without using the arm properly, which is obviously good but on the other side shows us we still have a long way to go. For sure, I think, the full January he has to get closer and closer.”

Owen Beck is set to be given a chance to impress after a positive loan spell in the Scottish Premier League. Should Robertson return before the end of January it is believed that both Celtic and Rangers will battle it out for a loan move for Beck.

This is one to watch during January.

Elsewhere, Fabio Carvalho has also been recalled by Liverpool. Several clubs are believed to be interested in signing him on loan including Leicester City. The Foxes are cruising at the top of the Championship table.
