Liverpool are set to embark on a busy winter period.

A period that will see some outgoings and hopefully one or two incomings as well.

The Reds are top of the league heading into the New Year.

They look good value to be around there at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail report that Liverpool remain open to offers for defender Nat Phillips.

Phillips endured a largely disappointing spell up in Scotland with Celtic under Brendan Rogers.

He only managed six appearances for a total of 314 minutes as Celtic crashed out of the Champions League bottom of Group E.

The centre-back is now set to return to Anfield in the next week.

The 26-year-old has not been included in any of the last four Scottish Premiership squads.

He last played in a 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock at the beginning of last month.

The defender, who had brief experiences with Stuttgart and Bournemouth, might be sent out on loan for the fourth time in five seasons by the Reds.

What’s next for Nat Phillips at Liverpool?

No Liverpool fan will forget the shift Nat Phillips put in during the injury-stricken 2020/21 season.

Alongside Rhys Williams, Phillips helped catapult Liverpool into a UEFA Champions League spot against all odds.

However, at 26-years-old, he is starting to get on a bit and will want to get settled at a club.

It’s clear that he will not have a long-term future in this current Liverpool squad.

The emergence of Jarell Quansah has further dented his chances at Anfield.

Therefore, we believe a permanent transfer may be the best course of action for Phillips.

A loan move would simply delay the inevitable, and the player himself would likely want to stay at one team for at least more than a season.
