Liverpool have had some injury issues at the back in the last month which has been stretching their resources.

They lost Joel Matip due to a season-long ACL injury in their dramatic 4-3 win over Fulham.

Jurgen Klopp also recently lost Kostas Tsimikas to a collarbone injury when he was covering for Andy Robertson who won’t be back until at least halfway through January.

Liverpool have coped well with the absences with Ibrahima Konate being fit and Klopp trusting youngster Jarell Quansah.

Joe Gomez has been in fine form in the full-back positions as well but the club have constantly been linked with defenders in the January transfer window.

Now that it is open the Reds may be actively scouting the market for any scenarios that they could jump in on.

Liverpool are the club most interested in Gonaclo Inacio

According to a report from Portugal Liverpool have sent a proposal to Sporting Lisbon for Goncalo Inacio.

They are the club that are allegedly the most interested in the 22-year-old with the Reds having consistently been linked with him.

He has already played 145 games for Sporting Lisbon scoring 14 goals whilst also getting eight assists.

Having come up from the academy Inacio has already won five trophies with the club hence why a lot of sides have taken notice of him.

His impressive form has also earned him a call-up to the Portuguese national team and he is expected to be part of their Euro 2024 side.

The offer that Liverpool have reportedly sent Sporting is only 30 million euros so it remains to be seen if that offer will be acceptable.

Liverpool have been linked with other left-footed central defenders with Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie also being linked.

With Matip out of contract in the summer Klopp will more than likely need another defender to replace him unless he signs a new deal.

So if the chance to sign a young upcoming central defender comes up they may make their move this January.
