In the summer Liverpool let go of several players whose contracts were running out as Jurgen Klopp looked to rebuild his squad.
Several players who left after not getting new contracts were in midfield but there was one forward option who also left.
Roberto Firmino decided to depart the club so that the younger options at Klopp’s disposal would have a clearer pathway to getting first-team football.
The Brazilian was the heartbeat of Klopp’s Liverpool side which had so much success and it was an emotional Anfield that said goodbye to him against Aston Villa last season.
He had options to stay in Europe but like many players, he decided to go to Saudi Arabia and join Al Ahli.
Things started fantastically well for Firmino as he scored a hat-trick on his debut but since then he has not found the back of the net.
So he may be on the move as eyes up a move back to Europe.
Nottingham Forest are one of the sides looking to sign Roberto Firmino
Nottingham Forest signed a Liverpool legend back in the summer as they brought in Divock Origi from AC Milan.
Now under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo they reportedly want to do this again by bringing in Firmino.
Firmino has started to become a regular on the bench at Al Ahli so his happiness at the club has plummeted and this has confirmed his desire to want to leave.
He was back at Anfield, with Fabinho, to watch Liverpool to take on Newcastle which adds to the rumours that he is looking for a move back to England.
However there are sides in Turkey who are interested in him as well as Brazilian teams Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro so it appears that he has a lot of options on the table.
In eight years at Liverpool Firmino played 362 games scoring 111 goals whilst getting 79 assists.
