In recent days Liverpool have been linked to a host of players with a majority of them being defenders.
Jurgen Klopp is short on numbers at the back due to long-term injuries to Andy Robertson, Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas.
However a player who has been linked in recent days has been a midfielder.
Genoa’s Morten Frendrup is reportedly a player Liverpool have been looking at as he has been impressing in the Serie A.
So far this season the midfielder has played 20 games in all competitions and registered five assists as Genoa fight for the top half.
At just 22-years-old he has a big future ahead of him but no one really knows where that will be at the moment.
West Ham and Crystal Palace want Morten Frendrup
Liverpool signed four midfielders in the summer with Wataru Endo being the specialised defensive one.
Alexis Mac Allister has also been deployed as the defensive midfielder but with Thiago’s contract running out in the summer Jurgen Klopp could do with another option there.
Frendrup would be exactly that as well as being a utility player as he can play in several different positions in midfield.
A recent report though has stated that West Ham and Crsytal Palace are also keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.
Moving to either one of those sides might be a more lucrative offer for Frendrup as he may have more guartaneed playing time.
However he could be promised a starting spot in Liverpool’s midfield in the future due to Endo being 30 years old.
He would also allow Mac Allister to play further forward but right now it doesn’t seem that the midfield would be a priority.
It appears that Liverpool will wait and see if there is any opportunities to do business in January.
Owen Beck and Nat Phillips have came back from their loans so they will be used as defensive cover.
