Liverpool have had a fairly busy start to the January transfer window as they have recalled several players to the club.
The first one who was always going to come back was Nat Phillips as his loan deal at Celtic was only until the Winter.
He didn’t have too much game time under former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers so they didn’t extend the loan and he may be used for depth.
Fabio Carvalho came back from RB Leipzig due to the same reason as did Rhys Williams from Aberdeen.
James Balagizi also returned from Wigan Athletic whilst Owen Beck was recalled from Dundee FC due to the fact Liverpool wanted cover at left-back.
This was because Andy Robertson is still out and Kostas Tsimikas suffered a collarbone injury againt Arsenal but he has now been pictured back in training.
Owen Beck won’t be available for FA Cup game against Arsenal
Beck and Phillips will have been in contention to be involved against Arsenal due to the lack of numbers at the back for Jurgen Klopp.
However Klopp has a problem due to the fact Beck will be facing a suspension.
He has a one-match ban to serve following bookings he picked up in the Scottish League Cup last July.
The 21-year-old impressed whilst in Scotland hence why Liverpool were willing to trust him to be the back-up to Joe Gomez.
Gomez has been filling in at full-back for the majority of the season but he still is an option at centre-back and may be needed soon due to the fact Joel Matip isn’t available.
So Beck may be needed with domestic cup games coming up without Tsimikas and Robertson.
This depends on when the two first-choice left-backs will be back in action.
If the pair are back in January then Beck could be allowed to look for another loan deal away.
As many of the players who returned to the club will be heading back out to progress their development.
