According to Football Insider, Liverpool transfer target Michael Olise has a new release clause in his Crystal Palace contract worth well in excess of £40million.
The online news portal claims that Olise’s services will not subside this summer despite him signing a new deal at Selhurst Park in August.
Last summer, Chelsea came close to signing the Frenchman after triggering his £35million release clause but the pacy winger opted to extend his contract with Roy Hodgson’s side, keeping him at the club until June 2027.
Olise is currently being monitored by several Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool ahead of a possible move at the end of the season.
The Reds’ recruitment team have sent top scouts to regularly watch the 22-year-old, who is seen as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah who turns 32 this year.
Salah would also have one-year left on his current contract with Liverpool in the summer and the club are yet to open any contract talks with the Egyptian.
Michael Olise has struggled for fitness this season after picking up a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the opening three months of the campaign.
However, he has managed to score five goals and registered one assist in nine Premier League games.
The France U-21 international is versatile and can play several positions including as a midfielder, in the number 10 role, wide on both flanks, and even as a centre-forward or false nine.
During this campaign, he has been used predominantly as a right-sided forward cutting in on his favoured left foot.
