Arsenal suffer major injury concern ahead of Liverpool tie

Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of key player ahead of Liverpool clash.

Arsenal could be without Gabriel Jesus for the huge Emirates FA Cup clash against Liverpool on Sunday after suffering a knee injury, according to the Dail Mail.

The daily newspaper claims that “the severity of the issue is unclear, however, there is hope it will not be a long-term problem.” He is now a doubt for the game at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Jesus has struggled with fitness and injuries since joining the Gunners from Manchester City and has a history of knee concerns.

The South American missed the opening weeks of the season due to a knee problem and missed three months of last season after undergoing surgery on the joint – subsequently missing the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 26-year-old also missed around a month with a hamstring injury between October and November.

Elsewhere, there is also doubt over the availability of Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is suffering from a calf injury – having missed last weekend’s loss at Fulham.

“He is progressing well. We have another training session tomorrow and we will evaluate whether he is available or not to play and start the game,” Mikel Arteta told the media on Friday.

Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu are unavailable – the duo have joined Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo with Egypt and Japan respectively – while Fabio Vieira, Thomas Partey, and Jurrien Timber are sidelined through injury.
