Liverpool managed to overcome Arsenal 2-0 in Sunday’s FA Cup clash.

The two had a fairly even game and both sides could’ve left the match victorious.

With the game against Arsenal being Liverpool’s first without Mohamed Salah, the outcome of the game was somewhat up in the air.

The Egypt international has been pivotal to the Reds’ performances this season and currently tops both the Premier League goals and assists table.

The winger is a special player and has started the season off in the best way possible.

Even though the game ended in a Liverpool win, it wasn’t a Reds player who scored for them.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Jakub Kiwior scored an own goal in the 80th minute.

With the Reds winning, this meant that the teams managed to avoid a replay which was the exact outcome Jurgen Klopp was hoping for.

We were really in the game in the second half. We scored the goals and brought the kids on,” the German said to BBC Sport.

We fought for 95 minutes. We desperately wanted to avoid a draw. Now I don’t have to make any decisions which is good.

We have a winter break now.”

With an already packed schedule, it’s clear to see why Liverpool wanted to avoid an unnecessary replay.

What Alan Shearer had to say about Darwin Nunez

For the rest of the fixtures this month, as aforementioned, Liverpool will be without star man, Salah.

This means that the rest of Liverpool’s attackers will have to step up.

Darwin Nunez will likely be one of the players Klopp relies upon in his absence.

However BBC pundit, Alan Shearer, believes Nunez has to ‘work on his finishing.’

One week I think ‘Wow, what an amazing player, he’s brilliant in front of goal and he can score the spectacular,” he said on BBC Sport.

But then I think the next week that he gets easy opportunities to put in the back of the net and it just isn’t.

One thing I do like about him is that he never shies away, and that’s got to continue.

But what he’s got to do is work on his finishing and his numbers have to be, because the chances he’s getting he’s misses far too many.

He’s quick and gets in so many good positions, he doesn’t have to be as offside as many times as he is. He just needs to wait that second, there’s definitely goals in that.”

Although Nunez has become something of a cult-hero within the Liverpool fanbase, his composure can be frustrating at times.

There’s no doubt that his unpredictability can be beneficial to the Reds at times but it more often than not hinders him.

Hopefully over the duration of the season, Nunez will be able to find the back of the net a few more times.
