Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool battled to a famous 2-0 victory at the Emirates on Sunday evening.
In doing so, the Reds secured passage to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
However, what seems even more momentous is that the clash felt like a season defining moment.
Liverpool will get a lot of confidence off of knocking out a potential title challenger from the FA Cup at their own home ground.
In contrast, the Gunners will not feel good after being dispatched 2-0, despite all the chances they had in the tie.
Speaking in his press conference after the game, the German manager revealed what he had told his players before the key clash.
What did Jurgen Klopp say?
The Reds manager made sure to let his side know that it was going to be a tough game at the Emirates.
His prediction came true, as the Reds suffered a lot in the first-half.
If it was not for Arsenal’s poor finishing, the Merseysiders could have gone behind in the first period.
Klopp told his team (via the Boot Room):
“I said to the boys in the meeting before the game: humans are like that.”
“It’s a tough game, nobody comes to Arsenal and wins just like this [clicks fingers].”
“So in this game there will be difficult moments [and] if we start in these moments – which humans very often do – [looking] for excuses and then we realise who else is not here, it’s normal that we have these problems, then we are screwed.”
The players listened to their manager
The players certainly stuck together to wait out an intense onslaught from Arsenal in the first half.
However, the Reds were rewarded for their patience and fortitude late on – with a Jakub Kiwior own goal and a Luis Diaz strike securing the win.
Liverpool are next in action for the Carabao Cup semi-finals against Fulham, with the first-leg being contested at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
