Fabio Carvalho has clear answer to whether he wants to remain at Liverpool for 2024/25 campaign

Fabio Carvalho has not had the best two years as a Liverpool player his fortunes look set to turn for the better.

Fabio Carvalho joined Liverpool in 2022 from Fulham, bringing high expectations a standout campaign at Fulham in 2021/22.

It was also viewed as great business by the Anfield club, who only spent £5m plus add-ons for the services of the 21-year-old

His debut season 2022/23 season at Anfield was marked by sporadic appearances and moments of brilliance, such as a crucial winning goal against Newcastle at Anfield.

However, consistent playing time was hard to come by, as he faced stiff competition from established stars.

This lack of regular minutes made it challenging for Carvalho to fully showcase his abilities.

Additionally, the 2022/23 campaign was challenging for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp as a whole, with Carvalho admitting that it played a role in his disappointing debut campaign

“We went through difficult times when I was there in my first season [2022/23],” he said to Rising Ballers recently.

To gain more experience, Carvalho was sent on loa during the 2023/24 campaign.

His first stint was at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Unfortunately, the move did not pan out as hoped, with the attacker struggling to adapt to their demands. He managed only three starts and a total of 360 minutes on the pitch, making little impact.

In contrast, his subsequent loan to Hull City in January 2024 proved much more fruitful.

At Hull, Carvalho thrived alongside Tyler Morton, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 19 starts.

This return to form highlighted his potential when given a central role, playing primarily as a false nine. His performances helped Hull City in their push for the promotion playoffs, showcasing his skill and maturity.

And now he seems very excited to play under Arne Slot this forthcoming season.

What did Fabio Carvalho say about staying at Liverpool?

The Portugal U21 international certainly staked his claim for a first-team spot with his sumptuous half-volley against Arsenal.

Now speaking to Joseph McBride, Carvalho seemed to confirm that he wants to stay and fight for a place in the squad in 2024/25.

But first, speaking on his goal that was assisted by Harvey Elliott, he said:

‘I’ve known Harvey for a long time, played together at Fulham and we get on so well on and off the pitch,” “We were talking about that after the game (the assist and goal), it was like the old days in the under-18s.”

When asked if he wanted to remain at Liverpool for the rest of the campaign, he said:

“That’s the target, to stay here.”

“I’m just having fun and enjoying the time I’m here and I’m learning a lot of new things.”

“Some of the principles are still the same but obviously, he wants us to play a certain type of football that is a bit different to what we’ve been used to,” Carvalho explained.

“We’re adapting every day, just taking on board what he says which is great. We’re having fun but working hard.
