Erik Ten Hag and Arne Slot will be rivals reacquainted when they take to the field in South Carolina in the early hours of Sunday morning for UK viewers.
The clash is set to kick-off at 12.45am BST on Sunday (7.45pm local time on Saturday) in what will be the final game of the USA tour.
The Reds have managed two wins from two against stern opposition in Real Betis and Arsenal and will be hoping to make it a perfect record in the States.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils likewise beat Betis but lost 2-1 in their bout vs Arsenal.
This match, part of the “Rivals in Red” tour, promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season.
This friendly will likely see both teams fielding strong lineups, blending established stars with emerging talents.
While pre-season matches are primarily for fitness and tactical experimentation, the historic rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United adds an extra layer of intrigue.
Both sets of fans will be eager to see their teams perform well, and the match offers a glimpse into how each side might shape up for the new season.
And speaking ahead of the clash, the United boss has seemingly paid his opposite number a backhanded compliment.
What did Erik Ten Hag say about Arne Slot?
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag seemed to suggest that Arne Slot’s excellent start at Liverpool is less to do with his expertise as a coach and more to do with how well run the club is.
Despite saying that his counterpart had a good start, the Manchester United manager seemed to name every other factor besides Slot for the bright start:
“I think that he’s in quite a good place, because the structures are good, the players are good and Klopp football was of course very good and very successful,” Ten Hag asserted to ManUtd.com
“But I’m sure Arne with his skills that he can add to this.”
“There will be elements of Klopp football but he will bring elements in and if they can bring this together they have a very good chance to stay very successful.”
The two Dutchman have gone head-to-head on four occasions
Slot’s Alkmaar team won both matches against the Amsterdam heavyweights in the 19/20 season.
Ten Hag’s team defeated Slot’s Feyenoord twice in their other meetings the following season, making their head-to-head record equal.
The Red Devils will be without big money signing Leny Yoro through injury while Rasmus Hojlund is also out through injury.
