Newcastle are adamant that Anthony Gordon won’t be leaving this summer.
The England international is keen on a move to his boyhood club but at this stage any move will be difficult.
Howe has a strong relationship with Richard Hughes and is also close to Michael Edwards.
Newcastle were facing the possibility of selling Gordon earlier in the summer due to a possibly PSR penalty in June, but that ultimately didn’t happen.
“He’s such an important player for us, we didn’t want to lose anybody,” Howe said earlier this month.
“Why would we want to lose our best players?
“We fought really hard to make the right decisions. In those last few weeks, it was very, very difficult. He’s an integral part of what we’re doing.”
There are no direct talks between Newcastle and Liverpool at the moment.
We can exclusively reveal that Liverpool continue to keep dialogue open with Anthony Gordon representatives.
There is a strong belief that a move in the coming transfer windows will materialise.
The Reds are expected to be busy in the transfer market in the coming weeks.
But for now they are dealing with outgoing inquiries.
Liverpool offered £6m for Bobby Clark
We exclusively revealed Liverpool have turned down an offer of £6M from RB Salzburg for Bobby Clark on Friday. The Austrian side are expected to return with an improved bid. Pep Lijnders wants to bring the 19-year-old to Salzburg. Lijnders began his career with a 3-2 victory over Grazer AK.
Clark is happy at Liverpool but also wants to know he is in the club’s plans.
RB Salzburg have been pushing hard to sign the youngster on loan but have made a bid on Friday for a permanent move.
Pep Lijnders is extremely keen to bring Clark to Austria.
We also exclusively revealed in January that Celtic were interested in Owen Beck. Celtic arch rivals Rangers also have an interest. The Scottish champions have a continued interest in Beck and are pushing for his signature.
