Liverpool Football Club are still awaiting their first signing under manager Arne Slot this summer.
The club have been participating in pre-season fixtures during their tour of the United States, recently defeating Arsenal 2-1.
In the transfer market, the club have been busy monitoring exciting players and looking at profiles who could fit the style of play Slot is looking for.
There have also been news of Liverpool players being monitored by other clubs, especially youngsters like Bobby Clark and Ben Doak among the names.
As the 2024/25 English Premier League season edges closer, The Reds are looking to quickly secure transfers that could bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
Which defender are Liverpool interested in?
Liverpool were previously reported to be interested in Bundesliga defender Willian Pacho.
The club have been eyeing various positions throughout this transfer window including attackers like Anthony Gordon and midfielders like Florian Wirtz.
However, with the departure of experienced defender Joel Matip earlier this summer, Liverpool will be looking to bring in a defender as quickly as possible.
One of the players the club were said to be considering was Marc Guehi.
Guehi’s standout performances for England throughout the UEFA Euro 2024 has gained rapid interest from a number of clubs.
However, it seems that attention has been drawn away to another defender more recently.
According to The Independent, Liverpool are now instead looking to reignite their interest in defender Willian Pacho who could be available for £50m.
Liverpool’s opening game in the 2024/25 English Premier League season will be against Ipswich Town on 17/08/2024.
The Reds are reportedly looking to secure the deal for the Ecuadorian defender before their first game of the season.
