Arne Slot was handed his first defeat as Liverpool manager earlier this summer in a pre-season friendly against Championship side Preston North End F.C.
Since then, Liverpool have won three consecutive games during their pre-season tour of the United States.
Liverpool defeated Spanish side Real Betis, followed by English Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.
Slot’s new look style of football was on full display through the tour and the fans in US enjoyed the opportunity to witness it up close.
According to reports, when talking to LFC TV, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher revealed what their manager said before the friendly game against The Red Devils kicked off.
WHAT DID ARNE SAY TO HIS PLAYERS?
“The manager has said: ‘It’s pre-season but you need to win games. That’s what you need to do’,” said Caoimhin Kelleher.
Kelleher has summed up Slot’s competitive mindset and Liverpool fans will be glad to know their manager is instilling a winning mentality in the players right from pre-season.
“He did say, it’s been three days since our last game, so he said, ‘It was a good win against Arsenal but we need to follow that up because it’s going to be like that the whole season’.” added Kelleher.
Again Slot is demanding performances of the highest quality from his players and reminding them that this is only the start as the 2024/25 season is fast approaching.
Although Liverpool defeated Arsenal 2-1 three days before taking on Manchester United in South Carolina, Slot was already looking at how the team could improve against Manchester United.
The manager is encouraging his players to perform even better after each game. It looks like the players are responding positively to Slot’s messages and taking his instructions on board.
This focus and mentality the Dutchman is attempting to instil in the squad will definitely aid The Reds in playing top quality football and competing at the highest level during the upcoming campaign.
