Joe Gomez has left Liverpool fans wondering if there is more to his recent social media activity.
Last week, plenty of reports suggested that the 27-year-old could find himself departing Anfield this summer.
The England international returned to the AXA Training Centre over the weekend and was part of the last batch of senior players to return after Euro 2024 and Copa America.
The only player left to return is Alisson Becker.
Although Gomez was selected for the Euro 2024 squad for the Three Lions, he did not even feature for a minute despite having one of the best seasons of his career in 2023/24.
Newcastle were interested in Gomez and wanted the 27-year-old as part of a package deal that included Anthony Gordon potentially moving to Liverpool.
However, the deal fell through as Magpies opted for other financial strategies to comply with Premier League regulations.
After the collapsed move, Gomez, who joined Liverpool in 2015 from Charlton Athletic, was reportedly said to be open to a new challenge in light of the Newcastle interest
The 27-year-old has struggled for consistent first-team opportunities in recent seasons.
His versatility, capable of playing across the backline, has kept him valuable, but he has often found himself behind Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté in the pecking order.
However, after all the dust had settled surrounding Joe Gomez and Newcastle, the reliable Paul Joyce cleared the air on the situation.
Joyce reported “remains committed to Liverpool” and is focused on emerging as a key player under Arne Slot.
It was even claimed that Slot called contacted the 27-year-old at Euro 2024 to discuss his plans ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Now Joe Gomez himself has seemingly cleared the air on the situation.
What did Joe Gomez post on Instagram?
As mentioned, Gomez and the rest of the senior players reported for duty at the AXA Training Centre over the weekend.
The players who were on USA Tour are reportedly getting a little breather before everyone linking up again for the final stage of pre-season.
And following the first training session at Kirkby, Gomez wrote a brief message on Instagram stating that he is prepared for a tenth season at Liverpool:
“Szn 10” he wrote with a red emoji to go along with it.

While we perhaps may be looking to closely into it, it certainly suggests he is more than happy to remain a Liverpool player – and also lines up with what Paul Joyce reported over the weekend.
The defender has previously drawn interest from Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich, with managers and clubs seemingly impressed with how Gomez performed in Jurgen Klopp’s final season.
Gomez had a renaissance campaign last season, racking up 51 appearances across 2023/24.
This marks the highest total of his nine years with the club by a wide margin, and just 13 shy of the combined total from the previous three seasons.
