PSG ‘exploring deal’ to sign Liverpool-linked defender

PSG are reportedly making moves to sign a Liverpool-linked defender in the past days with multiple reliable outlets confirming the news.

PSG are looking to make some serious moves in the transfer market this summer after losing Kylian Mbappe on a free to Real Madrid.

The Parisian outfit has struggled in European competition over the past few years, but under manager Luis Enrique that could change.

PSG made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season after being knocked out by eventual runners-up Borussia Dortmund.

It was the Spaniard’s first campaign at the helm, where he won a domestic treble in 2023/24.

And it seems that they are looking to strengthen ahead of next season with the signing of a Liverpool-linked defender.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has reported that PSG are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho.

The 22-year-old defender transferred to Eintracht Frankfurt just last summer, completing a €9 million move from Antwerp.

Despite being in his first season with the club, Pacho’s performances were marked by consistency and reliability. He made 42 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his importance to the German side.

Given his age and the attributes he has displayed, Pacho is expected to continue improving and could become a significant player for a top European club in the coming seasons.

Liverpool were heavily linked with the Ecuadorian before the summer window opened, but it seems that it is not Liverpool pushing for the defender as thing stand.

What did Sky Germany report about PSG and Willian Pacho?

As most Liverpool fans already know, the Reds could use another defender to bolster their ranks.

Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger at 33, while Ibrahima Konate’s injury record leaves a lot to be desired.

Furthermore, the experience and quality that Joel Matip has left behind will surely need to be replaced at some point.

Writing on X, Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that PSG are making moves for Pacho:

“Paris Saint-Germain exploring deal to sign Willian Pacho!”

“Interest is concrete. Talks have started. Eintracht Frankfurt informed that Paris want to sign him.”

“22 y/o top defender from Eintracht Frankfurt is open for the move.”

“Contract valid until 2028.”

Fabrizio Romano then added credibility, with the Italian transfer guru reporting himself:

“Paris Saint-Germain are showing concrete interest in Eintracht Frankfurt centre back William Pacho.”

“Initial talks took place, as Florian Plettenberg reports.”

“He’s one of the names on the list of PSG for centre back position.”

There is no doubt that Pacho is a fine defender, and if he moves to PSG, it will mean he only stayed one year at Antwerp and Frankfurt each.

This reflects that he surpasses the level he is at very quickly and showcases how much of a talent he can be in the future.
