2023/2024 was a lot for Diogo Jota.

The Portuguese attacker was plagued with injuries and missed 23 of Liverpool’s 58 games in the season.

Jota had averaged 15 goals and 4 assists in 32 games for the Reds.

But he’s started the pre-season friendly against Sevilla today.

Not only that, but he opened the scoring with a stunning goal.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has reflected on the goal after the game, describing it as one of the best strikes of his career.

The Portugal international connected perfectly with a pinpoint cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, launching a powerful left-footed shot that sailed into the top corner that left the visiting goalkeeper with no chance.

The goal, which came on the half-hour mark, was a highlight of Liverpool’s 4-1 victory, capping off an impressive pre-season performance by the team.

“I hit it properly with my left foot and it ended up being a great goal. One of my best, for sure,” Jota said, clearly pleased with his contribution.

“Happy with the result, with the way [we] played, and everybody worked out very hard today so a good step into the first game of the league next week.”

Jota highlighted the importance of the game as both a good workout and a positive result ahead of the new campaign.

“We worked hard, it’s sunny today, it’s very hot! We worked hard [and] some of us did 90 minutes, so a good step into our preparation,” he noted.

Despite conceding a goal, Jota emphasized the value of working under victories, which boosts morale and confidence heading into competitive matches.
