Liverpool defeated Sevilla 4-1 in an impressive performance at Anfield today. Arne Slot has his side in fine form heading into the Premier League opener against Ipswich Town.
Luis Diaz (2), Diogo Jota, and Trey Nyoni were on the scoresheet and rounded off a fine performance by the Reds.
Liverpool then played Spanish side Las Palmas a in behind-closed-doors friendly at Anfield. Both sides played out a 0-0 draw.
But there is no doubting that Liverpool need to strengthen to challenge on all fronts.
Speaking after his first game at Anfield the Dutchman said:
“That’s always nice, no matter which team you lead. Always if you play a home game it’s always nice. If you lead a team with 15,000 fans it’s nice; if you lead a team with 50,000 it’s even nicer; and if you lead a team that has 60,000 fans that are also constantly behind the team, similar to my former club at Feyenoord, those are always games to look forward to, and I got a taste of it today.”
Slot responds to Martin Zubimendi links
Arne Slot confirmed that Liverpool are still active in the transfer market.
“We are always looking if we can strengthen the squad but it is not so easy if you saw both games today. I have inherited a really strong team. If we can, we will strengthen the squad.”
When asked directly about Zubimendi Slot said:”You can come up with hundreds of names!”
