Fabio Carvalho has been the subject of a lot of speculation recently.

Liverpool rejected bids for the player from Southampton.

Leicester City were also been credited with an interest in the player.

But neither side were able to get a deal done with Liverpool.

It’s now clear why as English Premier League side Brentford stole a march on the competition.

Brentford have officially announced the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool.

The Bees have shared the news that Carvalho has signed a five year deal, with the club retaining an option to extend it by an extra year.

The 21-year-old made 21 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Fulham in 2022.

Carvalho was a player most Liverpool fans were hoping would play for long at the club.

The Portuguese was exciting to watch in full flow and was thought to be a player that will thrive under Arne Slot.

He impressed in his loan spell at Hull City last season, scoring nine times in 20 games at the end of the campaign.

He even enjoyed the Reds pre-season tour of the United States this summer, scoring in wins over Arsenal and Manchester United.

But he now leaves for West London in a deal that could fetch up to £27.5 million.

Thomas Frank comments on Fabio Carvalho deal

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has commented on the signing.

Speaking to the clubs official website, he said, “Fabio is a player with a lot of qualities.

“He can play in all of the front three or four positions in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. His best position is probably as a no.10 or coming in from the left.

“Offensively, he has great abilities on the ball: he can go past players, slide a pass, create chances and get on the end of chances.

“He’s a type of player that we don’t have many of in the squad so he will add that something extra for us.

“His ability and mentality to work hard in the pressure is also very, very good.

“That’s along with him ticking all the boxes from a cultural perspective and being the right character.

“So we’re very pleased to see him come in and push the team forward.”
