The 2023/24 campaign was not perfect for Liverpool but it was not entirely bad either.

The Reds lifted the EFL Trophy in Jurgen Klopp’s last season at Anfield and were involved in the Premier League title race for the majority of the season.

The team crumbled towards the end, though, as the injury crisis resulted in some players being overworked and thus underperforming the final months.

However, Mohamed Salah is one party that can barely be blamed for it.

The Egyptian King had a good personal record, with 25 goals and 14 assists in 44 appearances for the Reds.

With constant goal contributions, the free football tips must have relied on his form when predicting the outcome of a match involving Liverpool.

This article will offer a look at the five English Premier League matches in which Mo was at peak performance. It will include both trademark skills and overlooked plays.

Goal against Arsenal in classic Mo Salah style

The match in December started with Arsenal opening the score quite early. However, Salah brought Liverpool back in the game around the 30th minute.

The winger received a long ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the position did not look promising at first as it was too close to the corner flag.

A top-class player, Salah always looks to get the best out of any situation.

The attacker entered the box from a tight angle, beating Oleksandr Zinchenko off the dribble by cutting outside.

With a powerful strike, Mo sent the ball to the near post, surprising the goalkeeper and levelling the score.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw but it could have easily been three points for the Reds if not for the Alexander-Arnold disastrous miss in the second half.

Exquisite assist vs Newcastle United

The match against Newcastle United did not start in the best way possible for Salah as he missed a penalty in the first half. After the break, though, Mo was a man reborn, ready to lead the team to victory.

His moment of brilliance came when the Egypt international had the ball at his feet on the flank, with the full-back blocking him from advancing further. Salah had other plans in mind, though.

Spotting Cody Gakpo’s run into the box, the 32-year-old made a perfectly-cut pass with the outside of his left foot.

Expecting a feint, the defender had no time to block the pass, and Gakpo was able to finish the move and make the score 3-1.

The game eventually finished 4-2, and Salah had two goals and an assist to his name.

Beautiful through ball in Chelsea clash

Salah started the 2023/24 campaign with a bang, delivering an assist in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on opening day.

Earlier in that game, the attacker had hit the crossbar with a right-footed effort from outside the box. His goal contribution came minutes later, when he picked Luis Diaz with a perfect through ball into space.

Moving in from the right half-space, Mo tricked his marksman with a body feint, giving himself space to make the pass and allowing Luis Diaz to pick up pace. All the Colombian had to do was put the ball past the keeper with the simplest of touches.

Fox in the box against Villa

Football is not only about moments of genius, it is also about being in the right place at the right time. Although it is something of an art too!

The game against Aston Villa from back in September started with a stunning goal by Dominik Szoboszlai. After the match, the attention was on the brand new Red signing, and many overlooked the goal scored by Salah.

On the surface, Mo’s left-footed finish from the far post may not seem impressive.

Still, it is important to note that the attacker timed his run perfectly, reacted in an instant, finding the ball after Darwin Nunez’s headed assist following the corner kick. Such goals are typically scored by elite strikers, not wingers, and it proves that Salah has more than one trick up his sleeve.

The perfect lay-up

Another example of a play that may be overlooked by the casual football fan but which is extremely valuable to any coach was Salah’s assist for Wataru Endo’s goal in the 4-3 win over Fulham from back in December.

The pass did not look like anything special, it was a simple cutback followed by a great shot from Endo. However, Mo’s reading of the situation was incredible!

Seeing too many defenders ahead of him, with the ball at his feet but without space for a breakthrough, Salah made the decision to turn around despite being in the penalty box. The risk was worth it, as Endo was making a run without anyone to mark him.

With all the time in the world to shoot, the Japanese carefully put the ball into the corner. Mo Salah claimed the assist, and although the pass itself was simple, the decision to turn around was far from obvious.
