Alexis Mac Allister made his long-awaited return from injury during Liverpool’s 4-2 win against Newcastle United.

While Wataru Endo has performed admirably in the absence of the World Cup winner, it is good to have Mac Allister back.

With the Japan skipper now on international duty at the AFC Asia Cup, it is a timely return indeed.

Now Alexis Mac Allister has given Mohamed Salah a new nickname as the Egyptian leaves for AFCON 2024.

Writing a comment on the 31-year-old’s latest Instagram post, the Argentine said:

“We will miss you momito. Good luck.”

Momito, likely playing on Salah’s shortened version of his first name – Mohamed.

It goes to show how well Mac Allister has managed to settle in at Anfield.

The squad harmony looks like it is at an all-time high, and it is reflecting in the results and league position.

Can Liverpool manage without Mohamed Salah?

Everyone is aware that the Egyptian is by far Liverpool’s best and most consistent player.

The Reds have heavily relied on his goals and performances this season – both in the Premier League and cup competitions.

The 31-year-old has netted 18 goals so far this term, with Diogo Jota the next in line with 9 strikes.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp owe it to Mohamed Salah to stay in the title race and continue to perform in his absence.

Salah could be gone until 11 February – when the AFCON final is set to take place.

Therefore, he could miss Bournemouth (A), Chelsea (H), Arsenal (A), and Burnley (H) in the Premier League during this time.
