Liverpool has been named as the dream club of a Brazilian youngster who is already making waves in Britain.
Arne Slot’s side are one of the most followed clubs in the world, so it is no surprise that many players will be dreaming of joining.
The Anfield club is also popular among Brazilians, with Liverpool one of the English Premier League clubs that has featured several Brazilian players over the past.
As recently as two seasons ago, the core of Liverpool’s team was made of Brazilian internationals in Fabinho, Roberto Firmino and arguably the greatest Brazil player in English Premier League history in Alisson Becker.
Before the trio of Firmino, Fabinho and Becker, the likes of Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho, Doni and Fabio Aurelio donned the famous red shirt.
Perhaps that explains why Liverpool is popular among Brazilians.
That list of Brazilian Liverpool fans seemingly includes Swansea City winger Ronald.
The 23-year-old joined the Welsh club in January, making 18 appearances after joining from Portuguese side Estrela.
However, despite spending just six months in Wales, is already popular among Swansea fans.
He is the first Brazilian to play for the Welsh club and is considered somewhat of a cult hero already.
But that has not stopped the Brazilian setting his sights on a move to a bigger club such as Liverpool.
What Ronald said about Liverpool
In an interview with Brazilian sports news outlet PL Brasil, the Swansea man is quoted as saying: “Look, every player certainly dreams of playing for the biggest clubs in the world: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Milan, etc.
“It would be a lie if I said I wouldn’t like that to happen one day.
“The same goes for the big Brazilian clubs.
“But today my focus is all on Swansea, which for me is already the biggest club I’ve played for in my career so far.”
Before chasing those bigger dreams, Ronald is determined to help Swansea City as much as he can. Having been welcomed superbly by the club’s fans, he said he wants to give them more and more.
Ronald also name-checked former Anfield cult-hero Joe Allen during the interview, naming the Welshman as a leader of the team.
“Our group is full of very high-quality athletes,” Ronald said.
“Joe Allen, besides being a great player, is Welsh and therefore has a strong connection with the country.
“He is definitely a leader within our squad. But we have a mix of young and experienced players and this is great contribution from everyone.”
Could Ronald get his wish and make it to Anfield in the future? You can never say never.
