Goncalo Inacio is a name that most Liverpool fans are familiar with by now.
The ball playing centre-back is one of the hottest prospects in Europe and has a long list of suitors yearning for his services.
Amid Liverpool’s defensive injuries, many would like to see the Portugal international at Anfield sooner rather than later.
Joe Gomez has gone to a new level this season, putting in good performances across the backline.
However, the injured Joel Matip, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas have means that Jurgen Klopp is one more injury away from trouble.
Liverpool’s reported proposal for Goncalo Inacio
Earlier this week, Portuguese transfer news outlet Jorge Transfers claimed that Liverpool had sent a proposal to Sporting Lisbon for Goncalo Inacio.
The offer that Liverpool have reportedly sent Sporting is only 30 million euros.
This below the release clause of 60 million euros.
Having come up from the academy Inacio has already won five trophies with the club hence why a lot of sides have taken notice of him.
His impressive form has also earned him a call-up to the Portuguese national team and he is expected to be part of their Euro 2024 side.
What did Fabrizio Romano say?
Fabrizio Romano has provided a dissenting view to the claim that Liverpool have made a proposal for the 22-year-old defender.
Speaking on streaming site Kick, the Italian transfer guru spoke about Inacio after reports claimed the Merseyside club were progressing in talks.
Romano said:
“Goncalo Inacio to Liverpool?
“We’ve had this story on Inacio and Liverpool for three or four years we hear that Liverpool are close to signing Inacio, but it’s usually the same person linking Inacio to Liverpool.”
“At the moment I’m not aware of a change, he’s a player they have scouted for a long time, but it’s not something concrete.”
Going off the world-renowned transfer expert, it seems the previous claim about Liverpool making a proposal is false.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool indeed pursue a move for Inacio.
Real Madrid hold a strong interest in the player, as does archrivals Manchester United.
