Liverpool and Arsenal make their bow in the Emirates FA Cup for 2023-24 by facing off at the third-round stage on Sunday.
The Reds will be seeking to ensure their name is in the hat for the next stage as they look to beat the Gunners, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Mikel Arteta’s side just 15 days in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to make at least three changes to his starting line-up due to the absence of Wataru Endo, Mohamed Salah, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Endo and Salah have departed for international duty and Szoboszlai is nursing a hamstring injury sustained during the 4-2 win over Newcastle United last Monday.
“I can confirm it’s not a potential injury – it is an injury. Muscle, hamstring. But now we have to see,” Klopp said of Szoboszlai.
“Dom is very positive, doesn’t have a lot of pain but we have to wait a little bit. So, no chance obviously for Sunday, not for Wednesday. No.
“And then we will see, after that hopefully he might be back but we don’t know.”
“Besides that [Szoboszlai’s injury], nothing else really happened,” he added.
“The rest were yesterday available and fully fit, so let’s hope that’s today the same and we will have to make a choice.”
Klopp will continue to be without the services of Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak, Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, and Kostas Tsimikas who are all long-term absentees.
