Four months after leaving Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp will be back in the dugout.
The German leaving the club at the end of last season was by far the biggest managerial news of this year.
He enjoyed nine solid years at Anfield and was Liverpool’s most successful manger in the England Premier League era, so leaving the club he rebuilt was a thing of pain for him and the club.
However, Klopp left the club in a better place and vowed to never coach another English Premier League team.
During his time at Liverpool, Klopp won every major trophy available.
His contribution to the club and city of Liverpool made him the only foreigner, alongside Nelson Mandela, to receive the prestigious Freedom of the City award.
Since his departure from Liverpool, the German has been enjoying himself and recharging his batteries.
He was spotted at Taylor Swift concert in Anfield, in Germany for UEFA Euro 2024, and even turned up in Mallorca to watch tennis.
Despite his desire to have an extended time of rest away from the rigours of professional football, he is still being linked to a job every once in a while.
He was recently linked with the England and United States national team jobs.
However, he made it clear that he would not be returning to management anytime soon.
Yet, Jurgen Klopp will be back on the bench in September for a very special reason.
In a video shared on Instagram, it’s announced that Borussia Dortmund’s Signal-Iduna-Park will be the venue of a match between two of the club’s former captains.
Former BVB players Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukas Piszczek will have a final duel on the pitch as captains of two teams to end their great careers, and the game will involve numerous former players.
As part of that game, Klopp will play a major part in the event as he will coach Jakub Blaszczykowski’s team.
“I’m really looking forward to it – of course I have time,” Klopp was quoted as saying in a statement from BVB after the two main characters of the ‘farewell match’ asked him for support in a video call.
But the German stated that he will not be preparing much for his return to Westfalenstadion after nine years.
“Like before,” Klopp said he wants to only think about the game five minutes before the match.
