Las Palmas could cancel pre-season friendly with Liverpool after feeling ‘unimpressed’ with Reds’ actions

One club is reportedly considering cancelling a pre-season friendly with Liverpool having not been impressed with Liverpool’s actions

It seems that Spanish outfit Las Palmas is not entirely happy with how Liverpool have conducted themselves in pre-season friendly negotiations.

The Liverpool squad is currently in the USA for their pre-season tour and have beaten both Real Betis and Arsenal in friendly matches.

Tyler Morton has been raving over the style of play he has seen so early on in Arne Slot’s tenure.

The final game in the USA for Liverpool is scheduled for this Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia against Manchester United.

Meanwhile, less than two weeks remain until the action gets underway, with the Reds hosting Ipswich Town on August 17 to begin their Premier League campaign.

Although the Reds have another pre-season match against Sevilla on 11 August, it seems the Anfield club were continuing the Spanish trend behind the scenes.

Indeed, Spanish outlet Canarias 7 (via Sport Witness) has reported UD Las Palmas and Liverpool were in ‘advanced negotiations’ to seal a friendly match that would have been ‘historic’ for Las Palmas.

Las Palmas were very excited at the prospect of playing such a high-quality opponent, but it now seems their hopes have been dashed by Liverpool themselves.

Why are Las Palmas unimpressed with Liverpool?

According to the report, Liverpool is considering using their U23 team instead of the first team against the Spanish opposition.

Furthermore, it’s said that the game would be relegated to taking place at Melwood instead of a spectacle at Anfield.

These two factors are said to have left Las Palmas less than impressed and will now examine other options for their pre-season friendlies.

It is said that the manager of the club, Luis Carrion, will not even consider a proposal that involves Liverpool’s u23’s – with it now claimed that Las Palmas can ‘do without’ the trip to England.

Las Palmas has already faced Inter Milan in pre-season, who are said to have been more respectful by fielding international stars like Nicolo Barella, Fredrico Dimarco, Mehdi Taremi, and Alessandro Bastoni.

The Reds’ pre-season schedule is already quite full as is, with less than a week from when they arrive back in the UK to when they have to face Sevilla.

Nevertheless, it’s not the greatest look for Liverpool if the reports are accurate, and Las Palmas are well within their rights to feel aggrieved.
