Liverpool’s interest in German youngster Maximilian Beier appears to have suffered a blow after latest reports from Germany.

For the second window in a row, the Reds have been named as one of the few clubs with serious interest in the Hoffenheim forward.

Last season, Liverpool reportedly sent scouts to watch Hoffenheim man, as they considered him a transfer option this summer.

The German, who stands at 1.85 meters, can play as a center-forward and a winger. He would have added to the Reds’ already fluid attack comprising of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Suarez.

The youngster has ability to find space and score under pressure, drawing comparisons to Bayern Munich and German international Thomas Müller.

Latest report on Maximilian Beier

However, Liverpool are not the only club interested in Maximilian Beier, and it appears the Reds have lost the race for the signature of the 21-year-old

According to German football journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Arne Slot’s men have been beaten by Borussia Dortmund in the race for the player’s signature.

The report, claims that Liverpool’s interest in Beier was genuine, but the player has chosen to join the Signal Iduna Park outfit this summer.

Borussia Dortmund, who are coached by former Liverpool man Nuri Sahin, sees the German as a potential successor Niclas Fullkrug, who recently completed a transfer to West Ham and Youssoufa Moukoko, who is reportedly on his way to Marseille.

Perhaps, Beier’s decision to join Dortmund is as a result of a lac of a striker at the German club.

At Liverpool, the youngster would have had sterner competition for a place in attack, with Slot’s side already boasting world class attacking players, like Salah, Nunez, Jote, Diaz and Gakpo.

There is also an abundance of emerging youngsters from the Liverpool academy who can play in attack, so Beier would have walked into a difficult situation.

However, that is would not be the case  at Dortmund, where Beier is likely to walk straight into the staring line up.
