As the end of the summer transfer window edges towards the end, Liverpool’s lack of a summer signings becomes even more glaring.
The Reds have been linked to a few names, but none has yet to materialize.
Martin Zubimendi was one of the major names linked with a move to Anfield, but the Real Sociedad man chose to remain in Spain.
The signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been proving difficult to get over the line, although our exclusive report reveals he could yet sign for Liverpool.
However, despite the club’s lack of new signings, it hasn’t stopped the links to new players.
Adrien Truffert linked with Liverpool
The latest player to be linked to Liverpool is Rennes left back Adrien Truffert.
The 22-year-old, who is in his fifth season at Rennes, is under contract until 2026.
However, his impressive showings for the Ligue 1 club has led to several top clubs circling for his signature.
According to French news outlet L’equipe, Liverpool are among a host of Premier League clubs interested in bringing him to England.
Other Premier League teams keen are Wolverhampton, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old was part of the France national team that won silver in the just concluded Olympics.
He is seen as one of the most promising emerging players in France.
He is unlikely to command a hefty transfer fee given that he has just two years on his contract.
Should Liverpool sign him, he will have to compete with Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas for a place in the Liverpool starting XI.
Another player who can deputise at left back for Liverpool is Joe Gomez.
The England international played in that position severally last season, as Robertson and Tsimikas battled with injuries.
So, signing Truffert is not a priority for Liverpool this summer, unless Slot is wants to get him just for the future.
