Liverpool have recalled their second player of the January transfer window.

Fabio Carvalho was the first to return and now Owen Beck is set to return to Anfield.

This is likely due to the fact that Liverpool have suffered long-term injuries to both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

This has left Jurgen Klopp with no natural senior left-backs at his disposal.

A statement from Dundee FC reads;

‘Dundee Football Club can confirm that Liverpool have recalled Owen Beck and his loan with Dundee has ended.

Owen signed on loan for Dundee in the summer and quickly became an important player for The Dee putting in fantastic performances.

With the January transfer window now open Liverpool FC have executed their right to recall Owen from his season-long loan deal.

Owen will be greatly missed by everyone at Dundee FC as he has been outstanding both on and off the field.

We would like to thank Owen for all he has given to Dundee FC and we wish him all the very best for the future.

Owen will always be welcomed back in Dundee and at the Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park.’

Due to Liverpool now recalling Beck, this gives Klopp another option for the left-back position.

This is beneficial to the squad as it means some pressure will be lifted off of the shoulders of Joe Gomez.

It will also allow Klopp to not have to rely on less experienced youngsters to fill in the gap.

However, as the left-back has been recalled, this could be a bad sign in regards to the recovery of Tsimikas and Robertson.

With the pair not being available to select, Beck will have a much larger role to play than he anticipated.

He has, however, been in good form for Dundee throughout the season.
