Rhys Williams has been recalled from his loan spell at Scottish side Aberdeen according to liverpoolfc.com.

Williams did not actually manage to make an appearance in the Scottish Premiership.

He only made one 90-minute appearance in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Peterhead back in August of last year.

The England under-21 international arrived on loan from Anfield in the summer but has struggled to make an impact due to injury and a lack of top-team opportunities.

Williams experienced a preseason injury setback from which he never fully recovered as Barry Robson’s club advanced farther in their domestic and European campaigns.

The 22-year-old defender has been at Liverpool since u10 level and made 19 appearances for the Anfield club.

Williams was hugely important during the injury-stricken 2020/21 season, filling and helping Liverpool get a Champions League spot against all odds – finishing third that season.

He has also spent time on loan at Kidderminster Harriers, Swansea City and Blackpool.
