Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk nominated for FIFPRO World 11

Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk is in contention to make the FIFPRO World 11.

Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk has been nominated for the FIFPRO World XI 2023.

To choose their squad of the year, about 22,000 men’s football players cast their votes.

The World 11 is the only international football award that is chosen solely by players who play professionally.

The 23 players that garnered the most votes from their peers for their performances between December 19, 2022, and August 20, 2023, inclusive, are the nominees for the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11.

During that time, players had to have participated in at least 23 official matches.

It’s thoroughly deserved from Virgil van Dijk who did endure a tough 2022/23 season, but still showed high levels.

The 11 players who received the most votes in their position are then selected for the World 11.

They will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards in London, England on Monday 15 January 2024.

Virgil van Dijk is the only player from Liverpool to be nominated.

However, with how the season is currently going for Jurgen Klopp’s men, we can expect more nominees this time next year.
