Jurgen Klopp suggests Liverpool lucky to avoid signings
Jurgen Klopp opened up on Liverpool’s last gasp failed attempt mid way through last season. The German suggested Liverpool were lucky to miss out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
The Reds made a reported bid of over £100M for the midfielder.
“We didn’t know that in that moment but I’m really happy it worked out like that.
“I am really happy that it worked out like that but you never know but I had a really good feeling before we started pre-season as it was clear already with the two we brought in Macca (Alexis Mac Allister) and Dom (Dominik Szoboszlai).
“Then we knew that there was a chance for Ryan (Gravenberch).”
Klopp continued whilst sharing a laugh with the crowd saying: “Obviously we found out in the summer that defensive midfielders don’t want to join Liverpool, and then you see what happens.”
Caicedo opens up on failed Liverpool move
The Chelsea midfielder has opened up on his failed move to Anfield.
Speaking to Ben Jacobs, Caicedo said:
“It was a difficult decision because you know Liverpool is a big team. But Chelsea were with me for a couple of months and I felt like I couldn’t miss this move. They were with me in tough times when Brighton didn’t want to let me go. It was a difficult decision, but 100% the right one.”
