There have been a number of Liverpool’s talented prospects being linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Under previous manager Jurgen Klopp, academy players were regularly provided the chance to shine for the club during domestic tournaments like the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
These opportunities have allowed players to display their potential and attract the attention of top clubs from around the world.
Tyler Morton made his competitive debut for Liverpool back in 2021 during an EFL Cup match against Norwich City and has garnered increasing interest since then.
However, the 22-year old has never been able to establish himself into Liverpool’s first team and instead spent a couple of seasons out on loan at Championship sides to gain experience.
His most successful loan spell was at Championship side Hull City during the 2023/24 season where he became a key player and contributed goals and assists.
Morton made 39 appearances for Hull City throughout the season. His pivotal performances earned him a first call up to the England U21 last season.
UPDATE ON INTEREST FROM RB LEIPZIG
It was previously reported that clubs from the Premier League, Championship, Bundesliga and Serie A were after the youngster’s signature.
However, according to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are currently leading the race to sign the young midfielder.
Currently Morton is performing well under Slot during the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.
Morton recently praised Slot’s style of play and seems to be relishing the opportunity to learn and play under the guidance of the Dutchman.
Although the young midfielder may be keen on staying at Anfield next season, the club may be forced into a decision if RB Leipzig were to place an official offer for the player.
The potential transfer of Tyler Morton either on another loan or even permanent basis could be based on how Slot sees the young man fitting into his Liverpool team ahead of the 2024/25 season.
