Liverpool and Manchester City have been competing with each other at the top end of the Premier League more often than not over the last six years.

This season looks like it could be the same yet again as Liverpool currently sit top of the table with City five points behind them.

Pep Guardiola’s side also have a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s men so it could be another nail-biting transfer fight with the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal involved as well.

City and Liverpool haven’t been in many transfer battles even though they have locked horns so much over the years but in the summer that could change.

Manchester City like the look of Pedro Neto

Pedro Neto was in fine form for Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of this campaign before he suffered an injury against Newcastle United.

He was ruled out for eight league games due to a hamstring issue but he returned back to action against Everton off the bench.

The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool several months ago as the winger has admirers at the club.

A recent update from The Athletic has revealed that Liverpool will not have a free run at Neto in future windows.

In David Ornstein’s QnA he answered a question on Neto’s future.

He said: “No expectation of him leaving Wolves in January. Summer could well be a different story.

“Man City like him, as do a couple of other big clubs. We know Arsenal have a long-standing admiration.”

The Premier League winners are a new side to have been linked with him as Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested for a similar amount of time as Liverpool.

If Neto can come back from this injury and get back to his good form alongside Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan for Wolves the there could be a three way battle for his services.

So far this season Neto has played 11 games in all competitions scoring one goal whilst getting eight assists.
