Jurgen Klopp has clarified comments that made it seem that he was announcing his retirement.
The German has certainly been enjoying the summer since leaving Liverpool at the end of May.
Klopp was spotted at Taylor Swift concert in Anfield, in Germany for Euro 2024, and even turned up in Mallorca to watch tennis.
The 56-year-old looks younger compared to last season, and it’s fair to say that he is slowly recharging his batteries after many years working very hard at the top level of football.

During his time at Liverpool, Klopp won every major trophy available, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
His philosophy of “heavy metal football” energized the team and thrilled the supporters, turning Anfield into a fortress once more.
The pinnacle of his success came in the 2019-2020 season when he led Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years, a moment etched in the club’s history.
Beyond the trophies, Klopp’s connection with the fans was profound. He was not just a manager but a symbol of hope and resilience for many.
His openness, passion, and genuine nature resonated with the supporters, making him an adopted Scouser.
Alongside Nelson Mandela, Klopp is the only foreigner to receive the prestigious Freedom of the City.
Earlier this week, quotes were doing the rounds that suggested Klopp had retired.
Now his actual words on the matter have surfaced.
What did Jurgen Klopp say about his future amid retirement claims?
The German recently spoke at the International Coaches Congress, where he spoke a bit on his future.
This where the confusion lied, as outlets were running the story off hearsay.
Now Fabrizio Romano has managed to get Klopp’s actual quotes, and it seems that the former Liverpool boss is keeping the door slightly ajar for the future:
“At the moment, there is nothing at all in terms of jobs. No club, no country. Let’s see what it will look like in a few months”, the full quote from Klopp read.
“As of today, that’s it for me as a coach. I didn’t quit on a whim, it was a general decision. I’ve also coached the best clubs in the world. But maybe we can talk about it again in a few months”, Klopp has also added.
Keeping his options open for a future position, he never intended to return in 2024, but anything can happen starting in 2025.
“England? That would be the biggest loss of face in the history of football if I said I’ll make exception for you!”.
“I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let’s see what will happen”
So it seems that we may get to see Jurgen Klopp managing once again in the future, or perhaps even in another role like a sporting director or club president.
It is no secret that the Germany FA want him involved in the national team in some capacity.
