Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have not exactly been their glittering best in the Premier League this season.

The reigning champions are currently third in the table, five points behind the Reds at around the half-way mark.

As we know, the Cityzens seem to build momentum towards the end of the season.

But this campaign, Man City have looked vulnerable. They sustained losses against Wolves, Arsenal, and Aston Villa already.

Additionally, they have looked suspect defensively, evidenced by their messy 4-4 and 3-3 draws with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

But now Guardiola has revealed in his recent press conference something that may worry Liverpool heading into the second part of the campaign.

What did Pep Guardiola say?

Star duo Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland have been out action for some parts of this campaign.

The Belgian hasn’t appeared in a game since he suffered a hamstring injury 23 minutes into the season’s first encounter in August.

Meanwhile Haaland has been recuperating from an ankle issue sustained last month.

Speaking in his pre-Huddersfield press conference, Guardiola expects the duo back later this month (via Metro):

“Jeremy feels really, really good and Kevin as well. And Erling is also a little bit better.”

“But in the two or three training sessions they feel good and are improving. I don’t know about Sunday or Newcastle but for the rest they will be ready.”

Manchester City will play Newcastle United on the 13th of January, with Burnley on the 31st being their next fixture.

Therefore, the reigning champions will likely have their two star men back in the mix from the end of January onwards.

The pair have an almost telepathic connection and were a big part of why the Cityzens captured the treble last season.

In other news, Jurgen Klopp has dropped a hint on his possible team selection hint ahead of the FA Cup clash against Arsenal.
