Club Atlético Lanús from the Argentine Primera División have received a call from Liverpool over the possible transfer of Julio Soler.
This is according to Argentine outlet TyC Sports, who suggest that Soler has left ‘good feelings’ on those who watched him at the Paris Olympics recently.
This adds onto reports over the weekend that the Reds were keen on the player.
Soler’s journey to professional football began with his early years at Lanús, where he honed his skills and developed a reputation as a reliable and dynamic left-back.
Standing at 1.75 meters, Soler is known for his speed, defensive acumen, and ability to contribute to offensive plays.
His playstyle is characterized by a strong left foot, making him a valuable asset in both defensive situations and attacking support.
In the 2023/24 season, Soler solidified his position as a key player for Lanús, racking up 21 appearances across all competitions despite only being 19-years-old.
Despite his youth, Soler demonstrated maturity on the field, contributing significantly to his team’s defensive efforts throughout the season.
Soler also represented Argentina at the Paris 2024 Olympics under the guidance of coach Javier Mascherano.
The tournament saw Argentina compete in Group B, alongside Morocco, Iraq, and Ukraine. Soler’s inclusion in the squad highlighted his growing reputation on the international stage.
Although Argentina faced challenges, including a contentious match against Morocco, Soler’s participation showcased his potential at a global level – and also caught the attention of top European clubs including Liverpool.
Liverpool reportedly make call to Club Atlético Lanús over Julio Soler
The Anfield chiefs have reportedly made a phone call to Lanús over their interest in Soler.
The left-back sees his deal run until December 2026, with TyC Sports claiming that his club value him at approximately $15m [£11.75m].
The report states that there’s a “good chance the operation will be completed” in this window if the Premier League team were to submit a formal offer with the aforementioned amount.
Liverpool’s main communication with the South American club thus far has been to inquire about the terms of signing Soler and nothing more.
No negotiations have yet been initiated by either club as things stand.
Arne Slot has two left-backs at his disposal in Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, while Joe Gomez is more than capable of filling that role as well.
Soler would struggle to break into the first team if Liverpool decided to sign him, unless one of the current players left Anfield.
However, with the attention the Reds have paid to the loan market in recent years, Soler could likewise be signed and spend the rest of the campaign on loan in Argentina or elsewehre.
