David Ornstein has weighed in with his view on Kylian Mbappe’s transfer stance amid widespread Liverpool links.
The Anfield club have been named as a ‘serious candidate’ to sign the 25-year-old according to Le Parisien.
Kylian Mbappe’s contract at PSG is expiring at the end of this season.
Therefore, there has been lots of speculation regarding his long-term future.
It is believed that Real Madrid will make a final attempt at bringing the Frenchman to the Spanish capital.
However, Los Blancos are only willing to wait until the 15th of this month for Mbappe to make a decision.
What did David Ornstein say?
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s Five YouTube channel, David Ornstein said:
“What Kylian Mbappe earns possibly can only really be paid at PSG, possibly Real Madrid,” began the Atheltic journalist.
“We see Liverpool linked with him, I don’t know the credibility of those suggestions.”
“If this guy’s available everybody’s going to have interest in him but again it doesn’t translate into a signing.”
“PSG are really relaxed about the situation from what I know.”
“If he wants to continue with them and he wants to re-sign then they’ll do it gladly.”
Credibility of Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool
The credibility of the reports linking Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool has been called into question by the transfer expert.
It is well known that the World Cup winner has a good chance of leaving the French captital this summer.
The uneasy relationship between Kylian Mbappe and PSG was well exhibited over the previous summer transfer window.
The Parisian club outcasted the French international over contract disputes, before reintegrating him back into the team ahead of the new season starting.
This was the club’s response to Mbappe writing a letter to PSG informing them that under no circumstances will he extend his contract with the club – meaning his PSG contract will expire in 2o24.
However, as Ornstein said, an interest does not translate into a signing, so Liverpool fans should not get there hopes up just yet.
