Fabio Carvalho price tag revealed after rejected Southampton bid

Liverpool have reportedly set a price tag on Fabio Carvalho after Southampton made a bid this past weekend.

Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the United States has seen Fabio Carvalho emerge as one of the standout performers under new head coach Arne Slot.

The young midfielder, returning from a loan spell, has impressed with his creativity and goal-scoring ability, making a strong case for a regular spot in the upcoming season.

During the USA pre-season tour, Carvalho was in top form against Arsenal.

He scored a brilliant volley in the 34th minute, doubling Liverpool’s lead after Mohamed Salah had opened the scoring. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Liverpool, with Carvalho’s goal being a highlight of his energetic and creative performance.

In the final match of the tour against Manchester United, Carvalho continued to demonstrate his form with a tidy finish into the bottom left corner of Andre Onana’s net – starting off a 3-0 win for the Anfield club.

Given his impressive performance questions arise about his long-term future with Liverpool.

The 21-year-old was highly anticipated at Anfield following his reported £7.7 million transfer from Fulham in the summer of 2022.

However, various factors, including Liverpool’s disappointing 2022/23 season and the lack of a suitable position for him in the lineup, led to his limited involvement in the latter part of the campaign.

Carvalho’s subsequent loan move to RB Leipzig in the first half of the latest season also did not go as expected. Despite hopes that his time in the Bundesliga would enhance his prospects with Liverpool, he was recalled in January due to concerns over his playing time.

His later move to Hull City, however, proved successful.

Carvalho netted nine goals and provided two assists in 20 Championship matches, playing a significant role in helping Hull City secure a seventh-place finish, just missing out on the promotion play-offs.

What price tag have Liverpool assigned to Fabio Carvalho?

Over the past weekend, Liverpool rejected a €17.5m offer from Southampton for Carvalho.

The Saints are looking to improve their squad after earning promotion to the Premier League last term, but have seen their advances rebuffed by the Anfield club.

Now, CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool have set a price tag of around €30m on Fabio Carvalho for any interested party.

Furthermore, it’s believed that Southampton will return again for Carvalho and are expected to offer a new bid in the region of €21 – which of course woudl still be below the reported price tag.

Carvalho himself has already asserted that the target is to remain at Anfield for the 2024/25 campaign, and it’s fair to say that he has proved he is capable of contributing in a Liverpool shirt during pre-season.

It is then set to be an interesting few weeks in the Fabio Carvalho situation, with the club not willing to entertain any more loan deals.
