Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that latest Liverpool transfer news, although it is hardly an acquisition that will excite Reds fans.
After the drawn-out Martin Zubimendi saga that ultimately ended in the club not getting their man, expectations for the rest of the transfer window have been lowered somewhat,
But those inside the club are not letting the failed Zubimendi bid stop them from making other deals.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Mamardashvili is reportedly open to the move, recognizing the opportunity to eventually become Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper as a significant step in his career.
The potential transfer fee is expected to be in the range of €35-40 million, which aligns with Valencia’s valuation of the player.
Despite some tentative interest from other clubs, Liverpool remains the frontrunner for his signature.
The 23-year-old was part of an ordinary Valencia club that finished ninth in the previous season, yet he still managed to keep 12 clean sheets despite surrendering 41 goals.
What did Fabrizio Romano say about Giorgi Mamardashvili?
It has already been reported by Revelo that Liverpool have tabled a formal bid of €35m to try and secure the services of the 23-year-old.
But now the club has seemingly gone one step further having successfully negotiated personal terms.
The Italian transfer guru writes on X:
“Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Giorgi Mamardashvili. He’s keen on the move even spending one or two years elsewhere on loan.”
“Bournemouth open to signing him, then he’d become LFC new GK after Alisson.”
“Agents now in Valencia for club talks.”
“NO agreement yet.”
Liverpool’s plan seems to involve signing Mamardashvili and then loaning him out to another Premier League club with Bournemouth the side frequently mentioned.
This is to ensure he gains valuable experience in England before taking over as Liverpool’s number one when Alisson eventually departs Anfield.
