..Ajax seem to have an ever revolving door of wonderkids.
We all know about the likes of Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs de Ligt. They were part of Erik ten Hag’s Ajax side that almost made it to the UEFA Champions League final.
That side had been revamped to produce the likes of Ryan Graveberch and Jurrien Timber, who both now play in the English Premier League.
Another new name has now emerged in the Ajax first team. That player is now being linked to the English Premier League with at least three clubs interested in his signature.
Liverpool interested
CBS Sports are reporting that defender Devyne Rensch is gaining interest from English sides.
According to the publication, Liverpool are one of the sides interested in signing the 20 year old from Ajax.
Used primarily in the right back position this season, Rensch can play in a number of positions across the backline and that could be of interest to Jurgen Klopp.
While Trent is the bona fide number one in the right back position, buying someone like Rensch could mean a tactical switch where Trent is deployed further forward in a midfield role – something that he has excelled in at times this season.
As well as that, we know that Joel Matip is likely out for the rest of the season and the club may decide to move on from the defender with his contract set to expire in the summer.
Rensch would therefore be a good option to provide strength in depth across the backline for Liverpool.
Other English sides also in contention
But they’re not the only ones interested.
Arsenal have joined the race to sign the player and have sent scouts to watch him play.
Mikel Arteta’s side have suffered numerous injuries to the backline this season. The likes of Timber, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu have endured long term injuries. So a player like Devyne Rensch could be a useful addition to them.
Manchester United are another side reportedly interested in the player.
Erik ten Hag is known for his preference of players from the Dutch league. So a connection to Rensch there also makes sense.
Whatever club he lands at, it seems only a matter of time before another young Dutch star makes the move from Ajax to the English Premier League.
