Liverpool could be in line to recall yet another loanee in light of the sheer number of injuries and absentees Jurgen Klopp has to contend with.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was ruled out for at least three weeks after sustaining a knee injury against Arsenal.

In light of this, Liverpool are now in discussions with Preston North End over potentially recalling Calvin Ramsay according to the Lancashire Post.

Calvin Ramsay was signed by the Championship outfit on a season-long loan back in June.

However, the Scotsman’s time at Deepdale has been interrupted by injuries – much like his time at Liverpool so far.

The 20-year-old arrived at Anfield with stress fractures in his back, keeping out of action for many weeks.

Then, upon arriving at Preston, the right-back suffered further complications with his knee.

This led to him having to get treatment at the AXA Training Centre while he supposed to be training with his new teammates.

As a result of the stop-start nature of his loan spell, Ramsay has only managed one start and one substitute appearance for Preston.

When asked if Ramsay could return to the Reds, manager Ryan Lowe said last week:

“Well, there is a possibility with everything.”

“Again, you look at him not playing enough games; he wanted to come here and play and force his way in – which is why we signed him, to compete with Pottsy.”

“The injury set him back, then he played and then Covid set him back.”

“He’s now finding himself out of the squad, but there is a possibility with everything.”

“We will do what is best for us and the player as well.”
