Liverpool youngster Luke Chambers has rejoined Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2024/25 campaign after accompanying the senior squad to the USA.
It was reported that the 20-year-old would return to the Brick Community Stadium after spending half-season on loan there in 2023/24, and it has now been confirmed.
Chambers, who has been with Liverpool since the age of six, accumulated 18 appearances under the guidance of Shaun Maloney after joining them in January.
Prior to this, he played four times for Liverpool’s senior squad earlier in the season.
As an England U19 international, Chambers was involved in Liverpool’s pre-season preparations under head coach Arne Slot, featuring in three friendly matches.
He will be joining forces with fellow defender Calvin Ramsay, who also secured a loan move to the Brick Community Stadium for the season starting in July.
It is not the only loan spell Chambers has embarked on in his Liverpool career,
He moved to Kilmarnock in January 2023 to play in the Scottish Premiership. He played 16 games and adjusted to professional football fast in Scotland before returning to Anfield at the end of the campaign.
Chambers’ international experience includes representing England at various youth levels, including the U20s, where he made four appearances.
Now with a whole season to work through in League One, hopefully it will be a bright spell for the 20-year-old left back.
