Middlesbrough starlet Hayden Hackney continues to attract attention and raise his profile amidst interest from multiple clubs.
One of which are Liverpool, with the Daily Mail previously reporting that the Reds were ‘keeping tabs’ on the 21-year-old.
Hackney showcased his talents against Chelsea in the 1st leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
The midfielder made a late run into the box before slotting the ball away to finish off a good Middlesbrough move.
The Reds and other interested parties such as both Manchester City and United will no doubt have been impressed.
Operating as the leftmost defensive midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, Hackney has developed into quite a cultured midfielder on Teesside.
The 21-year-old is under the guidance of Manchester United legend Michael Carrick, who knows a thing or two about how to be an effective midfielder.
Tottenham Hotspur register interest in Middlesbrough man Hayden Hackney
While Liverpool’s interest is firmly established, Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly shown an interest in the Boro man.
This is according to Nizaar Kinsella for the Standard, who claims that Boro would ideally like to start a bidding war for the 21-year-old.
The player himself has no intention of leaving Middlesbrough, who are hoping to finish in the Championship play-offs this year.
However, the England Under-21 midfielder will eventually go, Middlesbrough has accepted.
Furthermore, his homegrown status makes him an appealing prospect to clubs like Spurs, City, and Liverpool.
At least eight players, four of whom must come from the club’s own youth system, must be developed by clubs in the same national league.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool make a move for Hackney.
But his performance against Chelsea on Tuesday evening would have certainly caught the eye of those at Anfield.
