It seems like a big month ahead for Liverpool Football Club.
Having not signed any new players since Arne Slot was named head coach, everything seems to be headed towards a crescendo as we get closer to the start of the season.
And it’s not only incomings that could be vital.
Outgoings are also going to be looked at.
Who will Arne Slot want to keep moving forward?
More importantly, who will want to stay and who will ask to leave?
One of the players who has been linked with a departure from Anfield is Joe Gomez.
Recent reports have emerged that the club were open to selling him to Newcastle United in a swap deal with Anthony Gordon.
That has subsequently led to reports that Gomez is open to leave the club in hopes of a new challenge.
It’s clear that his future is very much up in the air.
What next for Joe Gomez?
Sky Sports are now reporting that Liverpool are “open to offers” for the 27-year-old defender.
Their report says that the club would be happy to have Gomez in their squad at the end of the window.
However, Sky Sports have been made aware that Gomez has slipped down the pecking order at the club and have been open with the defender about that.
The hierarchy at the club have set a valuation for Joe Gomez and if a club came in for an offer at that valuation, they’d be willing to do business.
One caveat to this is that the defender is still on holiday after his participation at UEFA Euro 2024.
So he hasn’t had a chance to sit down with new head coach Slot to discuss his future.
But the club are realistic in knowing that the defender likely wants more game time and that he has a certain value in the transfer market.
Gomez covered a lot in the right-back and left-back positions, but the Reds are happy with their options in those areas too.
No official offers have been made for Gomez yet.
But the transfer window being open for 27 more days could see a change in that situation soon.
“Financially, they know he’s worth a certain value” ?
