After being spurned by Martin Zubimendi, attention has now turned to who else Liverpool can bring into the club in this transfer window.

While it seems that the club are no closer to bringing in a new number 6, another name has been linked to the club.

Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been another name based in Spain linked with a move to Merseyside this summer.

One of Georgia’s stars of UEFA Euro 2024, Mamardashvili is someone with a big future ahead of him.

He was one of the Euros stars that we highlighted that the Reds should look to sign.

Reports had begun to emerge earlier this month that Liverpool were in talks to sign the player.

Since then, it’s believed that there’s an option on the table to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili for around €30m and send him out on loan.

Valencia are struggling financially and need to sell a player to balance the books.

However, it seems that this transfer still has some way to go.

Radio Marca Valencia have reported that Valencia have said no to an offer from Liverpool for Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Sharing the details on their Twitter / X page, they claim that Los Ches feel Liverpool will increase the offer they’ve made.

That detail seems to indicate that the Liverpool hierarchy have offered less than the La Liga side want.

Radio Marca Valencia point out that no formal offer has been made, but specific numbers have been discussed between the clubs.

This seems to imply that Liverpool have informally asked Valencia if they’d accept a certain price, to which they’ve responded to.

With Liverpool in discussions with Valencia over Mamardashvili, it seems that this deal is picking up in the wake of Zubimendi’s transfer not going through.

There are still over two weeks left before the end of the transfer window. Liverpool may be playing a waiting game to test how desperate Valencia are to sell their ‘keeper.
